Overview
The College of Business strongly encourages students to participate in either the Study Abroad Program or the National Student Exchange program. The eligibility requirements for each of the programs are set forth below but you contain additional information about each by visiting the Office of International Education.
Study Abroad Program Eligibility
The selection of outgoing students for the study abroad program is the responsibility of the Office of International Education, in consultation with faculty, deans and department chairs (when relevant). In most cases, the program provider or host institution has the ultimate decision for acceptance. Selection is based on the following criteria:
- QPA (minimum of 2.5, some programs have higher requirements)
- Language proficiency (when applicable)
- Personal and academic recommendations
- Interview with a Study Abroad Advisor
- Written statement of plans and goals for the period of study abroad and/or internship (according to program guidelines)
NSE Program Eligibility
The National Student Exchange program requires that students have an overall GPA of a 2.5 on a 4.0-point scale for admission. A few NSE institutions maintain a higher GPA requirement. The selection students for the NSE program is the responsibility of the Office of International Education & National Student Exchange in consultation with faculty, deans and department chairs (when relevant). In all cases, the ultimate decision for acceptance is determined by the host institution. Selection is based on the following criteria:
- Cumulative G.P.A. of a 2.5 (some programs have higher requirements)
- Students must have completed 30 or more college level credits at the time of the exchange
- Enrollment at URI during the time of application
- Recommendation of advisor, dean, and/or faculty
- Interview with an OIE/NSE advisor
- Written statement of plans and goals for the period of the exchange
- Language proficiency when applicable
Internships
The College also offers for students the ability to participate in an internship to earn up to six (6) credits. Please visit Internships for more details.
