Admission Requirements and Tuition Costs

Applicants with a bachelor's degree from any accredited college or university may apply for admission to the Master of Business Administration Program. Applications are reviewed on a rolling admission basis, meaning that once the application is complete, the review committee will review your materials.
Admission requirements for all MBA Programs:
- The application forms for both United States citizens and international applicants can be completed (partially) online at the URI Graduate Applications Web site. You are able to complete the statement of purpose, address information, pay the application fee and ask your referees to submit their letters of recommendation online, but the other items will need to be sent as hard copies to the URI MBA Office, Attention: Charlotte Manni, Ballentine Hall, 7 Lippitt Rd, Kingston, RI 02881.
- The application includes submission of the following items:
- Brief statement of purpose (online)
- Two letters of recommendation (online or hard copy)
- Current resume
- Official college transcripts (also known as tested copy of mark sheet for international students)
- Official score report for the Graduate Management Admission Test* : GMAT (taken within the last five years)
- Residency Application or Certificate of Residency for in-state or qualified regional students.
- TOEFL or IELTS (taken within the last two years) scores are required for all international students who completed their bachelor's degree from an non-English speaking foreign University. A minimum score of 91 for TOEFL under the new IBT-Internet Based Test or 575 under the paper based testing, and minimum score of 65 on the IELTS is required. - Check, money order (make payable to the University of Rhode Island) or online payment is required for the application fee of $50 for all applicants (no waivers are granted for the application fee). Applicants who have lived in Rhode Island for one year are considered in-state residents.
The codes are as follows:
B3Q-KT-48 for the Kingston One Year MBA Program, and
B3Q-KT-29 for the Providence Evening MBA Program
Please note: GMAT scores are not required for candidates with a Ph.D. or J.D. or M.D.
Academic Requirements
Applicants with a diverse background are encouraged to apply. Most applicants have an undergraduate grade point average of B (3.0 on a 4.0 scale) or better, and Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) scores around the 50th percentile. A profile of the newest entering class is available. While GPA and GMAT scores are used for screening applicants, all candidates are evaluated on five criteria:

Application Deadlines
For Providence Evening MBA Study:
- June 30 for admission in September(Fall)
- October 31 for admission in January(Spring)
- March 31 for admission in May(Summer)
For Kingston Full-Time MBA Study:
- February 15 for admission in August for International Applicants
- April 15 for admission in August for US Citizens
How Much Does it Cost to Get My MBA at URI?
For Evening MBA Classes in Providence (2008/2009):
- Tuition based on a per credit cost (up to 9 credits)
- In-state residents (living in RI for one year) = $446/credit
- Out-state residents = $1069/credit
- Regional residents = $669/credit ( New Regional Rate for Eligible MA Residents starting 2008! )
- Additional fees for in/out state = $45 flat fee
For Evening MBA Classes in Kingston (2008/2009):
- Tuition based on a per credit cost (up to 9 credits)
- In-state residents (living in RI for one year) = $446/credit
- Out-state residents = $1069/credit
- Regional residents = $669/credit
- Additional fees for in/out state = $30 flat fee + $26.00/credit student services fee
For Kingston Full-Time MBA Study (2008/2009):
- Tuition for entire one year program (two full semesters plus both summer sessions)
- In-state residents (living in RI for one year) = $14,714
- Out-state residents = $38,581
- Additional fees for in/out state per semester= $2101 (for Fall and Spring which includes health, registration, and student services fees); one time $35 transcript and $60 graduation/document fees.
