UNIVERSITY OF RHODE ISLAND

Master of Science in Accounting

Admission

Admission to the master's program in accounting is open to all qualified holders of a bachelor's degree, regardless of previous undergraduate or graduate fields of study. Each application is reviewed by the Program Director and the Graduate Admissions Office. For acceptance into the Graduate School, students need an undergraduate average of approximately a 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) in addition to GMAT scores that are above the median (i.e., 500), as well as supportive references. If accompanied by good recommendations, high GMAT scores may be used to compensate for undergraduate averages that are below 3.0. If you have not taken the GMAT exam you can contact Thomson Prometric National Office at +1 (800) GMAT-NOW. The telephone number for the Rhode Island location is +1 (401) 738-9172. Students should take the GMAT exam at least two weeks prior to the application deadline.

Foreign students are requested to file a special application which is available from the Graduate Admissions Office. Applicants whose native language is not English must demonstrate proficiency in written and oral communications (TOEFL score of 575 or above on the paper exam, 233 on the computer-based exam, or a 91 on the new internet exam).
