Preparing for Graduation Guidelines

Things to do before graduation:
  • Schedule a degree audit: 3rd floor Dean’s Office Receptionist
  • Complete the Intent to Graduate Survey online by November 13, 2009: If you did not receive this send an email to laurie@uri.edu
  • Update E-Campus with address and name changes
  • Make sure that any holds you have on your E-Campus account are cleared
  • Make sure that you have removed any FERPA holds
    • To remove hold go to Self Service>Campus Personal Info>Privacy Settings>Edit Ferpa>Directory Restrictions
Graduation:
  • What is your degree going to say:
    • Bachelor of Science in Business Administration
  • Commencement website: http://www.uri.edu/commencement/ceremony.html available in March
  • Booklet will be mailed to your address in E-Campus in early April
Rehearsals:
Caps, Gowns, Hoods and Honor Cords:
  • College of Business Administration’s tassel color is Taupe
  • If you plan to participate in the 124th Commencement Ceremony, you must wear academic regalia which can be purchased from the University Bookstore in the Memorial Union, April 1 to May 23, 2010. These items are not returnable. URI Student ID is required.
  • Honor cords are not available at the Bookstore and must be purchased directly from the honor societies. Here is the website for honor cords and active honor societies on campus http://www.uri.edu/hpr/Sub/Chords.html.
Commencement Exercises:
  • For Undergraduate students - Sunday, May 23, 2010
  • Main/Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony
    12:30 p.m. on the Quadrangle
    Undergraduate and honorary degrees awarded. Graduate degree recipients are also welcome to participate.
  • 10 a.m. -- Families & guests may take seats on the Quad. Programs will be available at information booths and from student escorts. Seating for families and guests on the open air Quadrangle is limited and offered on a first come, first served basis and cannot be guaranteed. Folding chairs are allowed.
  • This is an outdoor ceremony – Dress Appropriately – Leave the stilettos at home
  • Noon -- Degree candidates assemble in front of Memorial Union
  • 12:30 p.m.- Commencement ceremonies begin and will run approximately 90 minutes.
  • In the event of rain, the main commencement ceremony will be held at the Ryan Center.
  • Bachelor's degree recipients will each be allowed two guest tickets.
  • Tickets to the Ryan Center are required and will be given to graduates with the purchase of their academic regalia at the University Bookstore in the Memorial Union.
  • Additional guests should go to the individual college rain sites : The College of Business rain site is Mackal Field house. The main ceremony will be simulcast to these college and University rain sites.
College ceremonies continue at the following locations:
  • College of Business Administration—Mackal Field House
  • Starts approximately a half hour after the conclusion of the Main Ceremony and will run approximately 90 minutes.
Dinner Reservations:
  • For a list of restaurants check the South Kingstown Chamber of Commerce Dining Guide www.SKChamber.com.
  • You will want to make your dinner reservations for around 6pm to give yourself time to get off campus and to where you plan to have dinner.
Hotel Reservations:
  • Book reservations soon as places will fill quickly
  • Visit www.SKChamber.com for area accommodations

What happens after Graduation?

  • URI Health Insurance – continues through August 31st, if you have any questions regarding prescription transfers or any other medical questions please contact Health Services at 874-2246
  • Parents Health Insurance – need to talk to parents to find out how long you are covered on their insurance
  • Student Loans
Career Survey:
  • The College of Business will be emailing you a survey to complete in September
